Frozen

Preparing these works often feels like conducting a small science experiment.

Each flower freezes differently. Some release trails of air bubbles, some lose colour, some remain opaque, and others become unexpectedly translucent. Petals shift, soften, collapse, or hold their form in ways I cannot fully predict.

Once removed from the freezer, I have to work quickly. In the heat of Central Queensland, the ice begins to melt almost immediately, leaving only a short window to photograph the subject before it changes again.

Through this process, I explore fragility, preservation, transformation, and the strange beauty that appears when nature is temporarily suspended in ice.
