Welcome to Smudged Art. 
I am Bree Day.  I am an Australian born photographer, artist & Mum who is passionate about creating, nature, mental health, coffee, community & raising my beautiful children.  

I live in a tiny outback town in Central Queensland & love using creative methods to produce unique botanical fine art photography. 

For many years I was a professional photographer specialising in family portraits & event photography.  All of that changed when I had to focus on some deep healing work & was introduced to nature mandalas as a tool for mindfulness. 
From there, my deep love for everything botanical blossomed & took over like a very welcome, invasive weed. 

Everywhere I go I have my eyes peeled, looking for flowers, seeds & seed pods, leaves, fronds, berries etc...  I have become the weird lady/embarrassing mum collecting leaves on the side of the road, gathering up fallen seed pods from the shopping centre gardens, stealing palm fronds out of friends green waste bins, drying flowers on every flat surface in our house & hoarding it all like precious treasure.    
The name Smudged Art was born from 'smudging' my mandalas with a sage stick.  If I am not wandering, gathering, designing or smudging a mandala you will probably find me capturing nature's beauty in other, slightly torturous ways, including freezing flowers, setting alight dried husks and pods, deconstructing flowers, double exposing images etc…
